The journey to the beauties of Corfu starts from Vido Island, the island with the mysterious past that is one of the first sights a visitor sees when arriving in Corfu, since it is located opposite the Old Venetian fortress and the old Venetian town of the island.

The green, uninhabited island of Vido is a small natural paradise filled with flora and fauna. It is also a favorite recreational spot for the locals, magically combining nature and the sea within a short distance from the town.  The whole island has lush and specially designed paths leading to its lush green heart and quiet pebble beaches.

There are facilities for visitors on the island, without altering the natural beauty. Visitors can enjoy swimming on one of its beaches or picnicking on the benches made of tree trunks which are scattered in the most unlikely places on the island.

A special characteristic of small and unique Vido is the plethora of different animals that live freely on the island. Surely if you walk around you will come across ducks, guineafowls, pheasants, quails or rabbits!

It is referred to in history by many names. Initially, it is mentioned by Thucydides under the name Ptychia. Later it was named Agios Stefanos and Island of Peace.

The name that prevailed and was established by the Corfiots, comes from the name of a member of the Venetian family of Malipiero, Guido, where by corruption it became Vido.

As we sail towards the final destination of the tour, Mouse Island (Pontikonisi), you will see many remarkable places on the island of Corfu, such as the Old Venetian Fortress, the beach of the Mon Repos Palace and the beautiful white sandy beach of Brachera.

Mouse Island, the rocky islet at the entrance of the ancient harbor of the island where today’s Chalikiopoulos Lagoon is located, is the first sight visitors to the island see as planes land within a stone’s throw of the neighboring Corfu airport.

According to legend, Pontikonisi was the ship of Odysseus, which carried the legendary king of Ithaca and hero of Homer’s epic poem, to the island of the Phaeacians. Then, according to legend, in a terrible storm the ship was washed up on the shores of the island and the god Poseidon turned it into this green rock.

One of the most important attractions of this island is the famous 11th century Byzantine chapel of Pantokrator which adorns it, which is open to visitors only on the 6th of August each year. The Mouse Island is often famously photographed with the church of Panagia Vlaherna – a unique monastery connected to Corfu by a corridor – from where ferry boats depart for the island.

It is a tour full of history and sights of incomparable natural beauty that will surely bring you closer to the island of Corfu and its philosophy. Travelling 40 miles to complete, the tour will take 8 hours, with the price starting from 800 euros.
